The movement for a Free Palestine is a struggle for life over death, liberation over oppression, and the rights of human beings to exist over the so-called rights of states to exist.

As a religious Jew, “Zion” to me refers not only to the land on which Jerusalem lies but also to a world beyond the colonization and exploitation of land and people. As I have recently come to understand, this revolutionary idea is also contained in the original Arabic meaning of “Free Palestine,” in which "hurra" the word for "free", is an adjective signifying that the land is inherently free.

We need a permanent ceasefire now. But we also know that a ceasefire is not an end in itself, as it will not resolve the violences of settler colonialism: apartheid, brutal occupation, blockade, racism, displacement, etc. I want songs that build energy and offer clarity to bolster our stamina and keep us focused on the longer movement to free the land and the people, through all stages of that movement.

I offer this small song humbly to this cause.
