Here is the single off of our upcoming debut EP, "Cicada Season!" We hope "Revolution Blues" contributes something new not only to the venerated tradition of Chicago Blues, but also to the Chicago poetic tradition and to public political discourse.

It is sad that this song, first written in 2015, has seemingly only gotten more relevant. But for every travesty of justice referenced in the lyrics, there are tens of thousands of good people raising their voices in resistance. These voices - like the chorus of cicadas we hear around us this time of year - remind us that nature is moving through its seasons, and that our world is ultimately bound to its higher laws. And this is something to celebrate.

Hearty thanks to Andy Willis for laying down the harp on this track, as well as Anthony Beck for playing lead guitar (in addition to producing the track and the rest of our upcoming EP)!

My baby didn't get her paycheck
when it was due last week
My baby didn't get her last paycheck,
and neither did the other teachers
The superintendent said "I'm under stress,
please have some empathy!"

To keep your public school,
it only takes a hunger strike
To keep our neighborhood schools open,
you know all it takes is a hunger strike
You might even get Chicago to remove some lead from your building
if you ask polite

There's homeless folks on every corner
some are old, some are in their teens
Yea, there's homeless folks on every damn corner
some are old, some are in their teens
And my people ain't ready for revolution, naw,
they don't even know what it means

[harmonica solo and guitar solo]

Well, Nelson died and I miss him,
and I'm scared for the times ahead,
Yea, and my friend Nico died way too early,
in his cold hospital bed
and Donald Trump fucking won that election, and
it could be the last one that we get!

They killed Sandra Bland and then framed her
and they say the answer is more cops - HA!
yes, and they killed those forty-three students,
way down in Ayotzinapa
And it looks like another world war is comin,
and artists just care about when their project drops

Oh, I got the blues, I got Chicago blues,
yea I got the blues, I got the U.S. blues,
uh huh I got the blues, the globalization blues,
yea I got the blues - the civilization blues,
I got the red solution, revolution blues!
